New program 2012: “We Will Uke You!”

After a very successful tour of Germany in 2011 they’ll be coming back in the spring of 2012: the TUKUO musicians under the direction of Peter Moss will be wowing fresh audiences with their unique sound, both plucked and sung, which never fails to generate standing ovations from concert hall audiences.

“The Ukulele Rocks” headlined the Stuttgarter Zeitung. Moreover, the Mannheimer Morgen spoke about the brilliant “Musical/Cabaret” performances, the Bergsträßer Anzeiger praised an “amazing aural experience” and for the Heilbronner Stimme it was  “the greatest fun”. The musicians from London, Nottingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow always filled their audiences with enthusiasm. They are now coming back with a new program and many more ideas. It just goes to prove that everything is possible if you can play the ukulele and sing as well; and don’t forget their own very special brand of British humour!

“Anything goes when plucking a Uke!” It doesn’t matter if they recreate or re-invent music from Rock ‘n Roll to Classic, from Jazz to Pop, they generate a relaxed listening atmosphere which evolves from the sound of this mini instrument mixed with their own various voices. And the result is “AWESOME, MAD and FUNNY!”

The experienced BBC Conductor, Arranger and Composer Peter Moss always had a ukulele with him on his travels no matter with whom or what type of music he was working with. Peter Moss was Bassist, Guitarist and finally MD/ Piano for the original London production of The Rocky Horror Show. He was also MD and arranger for The News Huddlines which ran weekly for 27 years, broadcasting live from the BBC’s Brainwashing (Broadcasting) House in London. The TUKUO Orchestra originally existed as a small group of pro players linked to Peter through his various work contacts and was joined by other musicians from London in 2009. This enabled the ensemble to widen and develop its comedy side. “Now it´s just one big crazy family!” the oldest member Doug Henning exclaims.

The rest of the orchestra variously includes Sarah Dale (also known as “HEIDI” since 2011), Lesley Cunningham, Tony Young, Andy Wild, Alan Sweeney and Peter Banyes and plays a range of Baritone, Tenor, Concert and Soprano ukuleles. Peter Moss, in specifically creating all the arrangements with the ukulele in mind, has managed to break down musical borders and mix the various musical genres together so smoothly that the audience is easily and willingly drawn into the participating atmosphere of the concert. That’s why the new program is called: “We Will Uke You!”

Be amazed by this unique collection of talent, a combination of Wit and Words, Songs and Strumming and Pieces that need Plucking, an Ensemble that cannot be labeled or pidgeon-holed. It is, if you need to call it anything, a perfect piece of Orchestrated Musical Fun that  transfers itself easily from the stage to the audience and back again. After a concert like this there will be no longer be any doubts: The Ukulele is the cult-sensation!
